Street Memoir

The town was usual enough; it had
An old country school around the corner,
And a dairy across the busy road, a
Cemetery also across the road by
The school and even a little church,
That I never went to and a hall that
We always went to for school assemblies

My sister, My friends and I

Did what girls do - Ride our bike down
To the dairy and then bike into the
School where we would eat under
The big gum tree while sitting on a
Tractor tyre, Swung on the playground
Like monkeys, and went swimming
In my friend's aunties pool when she
Wasn’t home and swam as fast as
Fish getting chased by a shark
Doing nothing important
